Pennies for Peace

Pennies for Peace (P4P) is a service learning program of Central Asia Institute that aims to broaden students’ cultural horizons and teach them about their capacities as philanthropists. Greg Mortenson, founder of the Central Asia Institute and author of Three Cups of Tea, will be featured at the International Day of Peace to be held at the Keeling-Puri Peace Park on September 19, 2008. He will also be the featured guest at the Rockford Public Library’s annual fundraiser on September 20 and will be holding a lecture at Coronado Theater on the eve of the September 19. As a result of Mortenson’s upcoming visit, the northern Illinois community has accepted the challenge of raising $50,000 by September 19, 2008.
